VibeLuxury

The Grand is for the group who wants Brighton to feel like an occasion from the second the taxi pulls up. It’s huge, historic and unapologetically polished, with 205 newly refurbished rooms, marble in the lobby and the sea directly opposite. Subtle, it is not. Useful for twelve people arriving with approximately forty-seven bags? Much more so.

The room mix is better for groups than the grand old facade suggests. Several king categories can be twinned on request, interconnecting rooms are available and the larger sea-view suites give you enough space for getting ready without six people competing for one square metre of mirror. Family rooms exist too, but published occupancy is geared around children, so don’t casually count those as adult triples.

Downstairs there’s a proper cocktail bar, restaurant, afternoon tea and a new spa with a thermal suite. Basically: somewhere for the first drink, somewhere for the long lunch and somewhere to recover the next morning without leaving the building. Very efficient.

Sleeping arrangements

• Superior King, Superior Sea View, Executive Sea View and Junior Suite categories can all be configured as twins on request, giving groups plenty of two-person sharing options.
  • Interconnecting rooms are also available, subject to allocation, which is useful when the group wants to stay close without trying to fit everyone into one room.
  • Superior King Family and Junior Suite Family rooms add sofa beds, but published occupancy is for two adults plus children rather than three or four adults, so don’t count them as adult triples without confirming first.

Location

The Grand sits right on King’s Road opposite the beach, with the i360 nearby and The Lanes, Brighton Pier and central bars all comfortably walkable. Brighton station is further inland, so arrivals may involve a taxi if nobody fancies dragging luggage downhill, but once you’re checked in most of the weekend can happen on foot. You’re close to the nightlife without being buried inside it, which is useful when half the group wants one more drink and the other half has emotionally moved on to room service.
