Pickering’s Gin is one of those Edinburgh activities that actually belongs in Edinburgh. The distillery sits inside the old veterinary school at Summerhall, where its gins are made by hand in the middle of one of the city’s most interesting arts venues.
The Gin Jolly takes you through the working distillery before things get considerably more useful: four neat gin tastings, a cocktail and a G&T to finish. It is drinks-led without being another generic cocktail class, and at 75 minutes it is compact enough to slot into the afternoon before dinner without swallowing the entire day.

The Gin Jolly currently costs £25 per person and lasts 75 minutes. It runs at 3pm Wednesday to Sunday, with an additional 5pm tour on Fridays and Saturdays.
The experience is accessible, with all tour spaces on the ground floor and seating available if needed. A small booking fee is added at checkout.
