Moxy Edinburgh
It may be a chain hotel, but it’s a chain hotel with cocktails at check-in and a rooftop worth staying in for. We’re in.
Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge is for the group that would rather meet over cocktails than spend half an hour asking which room everyone is in. Check-in happens at Bar Moxy, the lobby is full of sofas, games and big communal tables, and the whole place feels deliberately social without tipping into themed-hen territory.
Upstairs, rooms keep things compact and practical, with smart storage, walk-in showers and the usual Moxy setup of doubles, twins and larger family sleepers. If you are sharing, the twin rooms are the obvious choice; if getting-ready space matters, go bigger rather than assuming a standard room will somehow absorb three open suitcases and six outfit options.
Then there is Lochrin Rooftop Bar upstairs, which is the real reason this one earns its place on the list. Cocktails with Edinburgh views before heading out saves everyone from immediately needing another booking, while Fountainbridge keeps the Old Town and Haymarket close without putting you directly above the loudest bit of the city.
Moxy sits in Fountainbridge, around ten minutes from Haymarket and roughly fifteen minutes on foot from the Old Town. Grassmarket, Princes Street and the EICC are all straightforward from here, while nearby tram links make airport arrivals considerably less dramatic. It is central enough that most plans are walkable, but far enough from the busiest Old Town streets to give you a fighting chance of actually sleeping once everyone gets back.
Features
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by noon. Rooms use open storage rather than traditional wardrobes, and recent guests specifically mention that getting ready can feel tight in smaller categories. If sleep is the priority, avoid rooms directly beneath rooftop ventilation where possible. There is no onsite parking. The calculator currently uses a temporary public £160 nightly rate for two and should be refreshed against TAAP before publishing.

They decorated the room for my birthday and it was amazing! I’m really grateful to their efforts.
The room and bathroom were both clean, well presented, and a good size.
There’s a welcome cocktail when you check in, free coffee in the mornings, foosball, big communal tables, deep sofas.
