The Dean Docklands
The perfect place for a Dublin hen with plans beyond Temple Bar. Pool, polish and a perfect rooftop for a cocktail (or three).
Formerly The Mayson, The Dean Dublin Docklands takes over a converted warehouse and townhouse on North Wall Quay, mixing exposed brick, copper baths and industrial details with a much more polished hotel set-up. It currently has 93 guest rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, event spaces and a pool and sauna downstairs.
For groups, the standout room is the Warehouse Suite. It sleeps four across two bedrooms and gives you 42 sq m to spread out, which is considerably more useful than trying to turn a tiny double into getting-ready headquarters. Most other categories sleep two, so larger parties will still need multiple rooms.
The social spaces make up for that. There’s a rooftop restaurant and terrace, a traditional pub and courtyard, casual dining downstairs and proper event spaces for bigger get-togethers. Add a Docklands location beside the 3Arena and it works particularly well for a weekend built around dinner, drinks and a show rather than spending the entire time around Temple Bar.
The Dean sits on North Wall Quay beside the River Liffey, with the 3Arena practically on the doorstep and the Convention Centre and Bord Gáis Energy Theatre nearby. This side of Dublin feels newer, more spacious and less tourist-heavy than Temple Bar, while the Luas makes getting back into the centre straightforward. Connolly Station is also reasonably close. For a group, it’s especially good if the weekend involves a concert, theatre trip or Docklands dinner rather than endless laps of the same central pubs.
Features
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 11am. The smallest Warehouse Cosy rooms are only 12 sq m, so they’re not ideal for serious luggage or a full getting-ready operation. Larger Warehouse Suites are considerably more practical. The Docklands location trades immediate Temple Bar access for better space, river views and the 3Arena on the doorstep.
REVIEWS
A lot of our guests stayed the night before and night of and they all commented on how nice the rooms were.
Rooms are small but perfect, have big glass windows with nice enough views and a big shower.
The hotel is stunning, the Bottleboy and Timberyard are both great spaces for hosting events and rooms are beautiful.
Trying to get ready for a night out was a challenge as the lighting was shocking bad.
