VibeRelaxed

voco Edinburgh – Royal Terrace sits behind one of those grand Edinburgh facades that makes everyone briefly consider relocating. Inside, it’s a polished four-star hotel rather than a tiny townhouse stay, with 103 rooms, a restaurant opening onto private gardens and a cocktail and whisky bar downstairs.

For groups, the room mix is particularly useful. Standard rooms include proper twins and two-double-bed configurations sleeping four, while suites can also come with two doubles. Connecting rooms are available on request, giving you several ways to keep people together without automatically relying on sofa beds.

The private garden is the bit that gives it more personality than your average city hotel. Drinks can happen outside before dinner, there’s a proper bar for regrouping, and the location keeps you close to the centre while feeling noticeably calmer than the Grassmarket. It’s a strong option for a hen that wants Edinburgh without needing Edinburgh nightlife directly underneath the bedroom.

Sleeping arrangements

  • Cosy Rooms can come with two single beds as well as double and single configurations, although sizes vary considerably.
  • Standard Rooms offer either two singles, one double or two double beds; the two-double configuration can sleep up to four guests.
  • Premium Rooms centre on one king, with some sofa-bed versions also published. Suites can have either one king or two double beds, and connecting rooms are available on request.

Location

voco Royal Terrace sits on a handsome, tree-lined street at the eastern edge of Edinburgh’s New Town, close to Calton Hill and the St James Quarter. Princes Street, George Street and the Old Town are all walkable, while Waverley station is around ten minutes away for easy train arrivals. The immediate surroundings are much calmer than the Grassmarket or Cowgate, which makes this a useful compromise for groups wanting central Edinburgh by day and considerably less street noise once everyone gets back.

The hotel has 103 rooms and room sizes vary quite a lot even within the same category, so exact allocation matters if the group expects similar getting-ready space.
