6 Luxury Manchester Hotels For Hen Weekends

Manchester just works for a hen. It’s unpretentious in the best way — Northern hospitality, zero fuss, and a weekend that can just flow. But unpretentious doesn’t mean uncomfortable. Gone are the days when a hen meant a Travelodge twin and a carpet that’s seen things.

Whether you’re basing yourselves in Spinningfields or the Northern Quarter, we’ve rounded up the the stays that let you do Manchester properly, then come home to something that feels like a treat.

Here are the best luxury hotels for a Manchester hen weekend.

DISCLAIMER: These are luxury-leaning picks, curated for a group that wants five-star fuss and are happy to pay for it. Not to worry, we've also curated budget-friendly stays for hens in Manchester.

Treehouse is the hen-friendly hotel in disguise. Think bold, playful colour that gives a slight Alice-in-Wonderland energy. New(ish) to Manchester, it's a design-led stay that nails that rare sweet spot of playful without being childish. From the second you walk into reception (bright, welcoming, quietly buzzy), you get the point: this is a stay built around details. There’s even a little shop tucked inside for last-minute bits, which sounds minor until the bride needs a safety pin.

WHY IT WORKS: It’s a city-centre hen hotel that doesn’t feel like it. You’ve got atmosphere built in, so pre-drinks feel natural rather than staged, plus plenty of spaces to drift between without losing half the group. Add in thoughtful food at Pips, a cinema room for a cosy night, and a gym for the one saint in your group who still manages a workout, and it covers every version of the weekend.

INSIDER TIP: Connecting studio suites can sleep six, while the two queen room can sleep four, book thoughtfully.

Nestled right in the heart of Manchester, The Alan is a girls’-weekend-ready stay where the vibe is cool without trying too hard. It feels more like a stylish city bolthole than a chain, which is exactly the point. Downstairs is where it really earns its keep: a big, open, light-filled lobby that doubles as a coworking-friendly hangout, a natural meet-up spot, and an easy first stop for cocktails or a casual bite before you head out. It’s the kind of space where someone says “meet in the bar” and suddenly it’s 9pm, you’ve ordered something small, and the bride’s already done three full outfit changes

Princes Street

WHY IT WORKS: Double doubles. Beautiful hotels and group friendly rooms don't often go hand in hand, but The Alan is the exception. While the bride and chosen few can enjoy a Signature Suite, the rest of the group can slum it in double double rooms made for girly weekends. Two double beds, no shortage of plug sockets. You’re also on Princess Street, right in the thick of it, so dinners, bars and late-night plans are all within easy reach without turning the group chat into a taxi spreadsheet.

INSIDER TIP: The exposed pipework looks cool in theory (very industrial, very “Manchester”), but it can come with a trade-off: you may hear water running when nearby rooms use their shower/toilet. If your group has any light sleepers, pack ear plugs and consider requesting quieter rooms.

From £365 for two nights.

King Street Townhouse is the Manchester version of a girls’ weekend moodboard: boutique, glossy, and designed for the kind of hen where the hotel is part of the itinerary, not an afterthought. It’s intimate enough to feel special, but still has that city energy outside the doors, so you get both: calm base, easy night out. It also has the iconic spa pool that overlooks the city, guaranteeing a final fling before the ring she'll always remember.

WHY IT WORKS: The selling point is how effortlessly it handles a group. You can start the day slowly, do a meet in the bar moment without having to squeeze into one double, and then step out to dinner/drinks with minimal admin. It suits a bride that’s more elevated than messy, but still wants the night-out to happen.

INSIDER TIP:  It's a splurge, so make the most of the location. You can hire the screening room for a girly night in. Whether it's Bridesmaids, Mamma Mia or maybe even Magic Mike, it's a wholesome way to break up a weekend of going out-out.

Alexa, play the Sex and the City theme song. If Carrie had a bachelorette, you just know it would be here. The Leven is your tiny slice of New York on the edge of the Gay Village: exposed brick, big windows, and a bathtub front-and-centre. You're seconds from Canal Street, so dinner-drinks-wander happens naturally, without anyone having to open Maps. And then there's MAYA, three floors of cocktails, dining and disco a stone throw away. A built-in meeting point before the night runs away with you, and an even better safety net the next morning when someone needs a full English.

WHY IT WORKS: Book one of the apartment-style rooms and it gives the hen a base, not just a bed. The Living Space set-up (living room + kitchen) is ideal for pre-drinks, outfit changes and the post-night debrief. That bath-in-the-bedroom situation? It's only weird if you make it weird.

INSIDER TIP: Book room 507 if you can, and pack earplugs. The loft aesthetic and great location is part of the charm, but it's not silent.

Kimpton Clocktower is an icon, grand architecture and big, cinematic energy, the kind of hotel that instantly makes the weekend feel like an occasion, before anyone’s found their heels. Downstairs, The Refuge is a destination restaurant/bar with different spaces (dining room, public bar, winter garden, den) that means you can start the night here, regroup here, and end up here for one last without it feeling like you’ve defaulted to the lobby.

WHY IT WORKS: Rooms skew plush and comfortable, and the whole set-up is used to weekends that involve staggered arrivals, outfit changes, and a lot of meet you downstairs. Location-wise, you’re right on Oxford Street, so you can do dinner, drinks, and a late-night wander home without stress.

INSIDER TIP: Make The Refuge your booking, ideally early-ish, because it solves the hardest part of a hen: corralling the group before the night splinters.

If your hen leans late-night wine bar, not suite-and-structure, The Cow Hollow is your girl. It’s a small, design-led townhouse-style hotel right on Newton Street, so you’re in the Northern Quarter’s best bit without feeling like you’re sleeping above the party. Think moody lighting, dark tones, a little bit of velvet energy, and bedrooms that feel intentionally cosy rather than on top of each other. It’s minimal faff, a warm welcome, and the kind of details that make everyone feel looked after without anyone needing to ask. There’s a complimentary glass of Prosecco with nibbles on arrival, and a complimentary breakfast bag in the morning.

WHY IT WORKS: It’s ideal for smaller groups who want to be right in the mix, but still come home to somewhere calm and grown-up. Location-wise, you’re perfectly placed for Northern Quarter dinners, bars, and that we’ll just have one energy that turns into a full evening. And the little perks (hello, Prosecco) make it feel hen-appropriate without making it a hen hotel.

INSIDER TIP: Don't tell anyone, but staff brought us milk and cookies after our night-out. We might just be special, but word on the street is that this is a regular occurance between 9pm and 11pm.
