Edinburgh is one of the best UK cities for a hen weekend: scenic, walkable, and filled with places that understand a girls weekend. From velvet-booth cocktail bars, to softly lit restaurants, and little bars you stumble into and don’t want to leave, it’s the kind of city where you’re looked after well.
Your accommodation should match that energy. In the emphatic words of Victoria Ratliffe: “I just don’t think, at this age, that I’m meant to live an uncomfortable life.” The same goes for the bride. If the group chat’s aligned, these are our favourite luxury stays for a hen weekend in Edinburgh.

DISCLAIMER: These are luxury-leaning picks, curated for a group that wants five-star fuss and are happy to pay for it. Not to worry, we've also curated budget-friendly stays for hens in Edinburgh.
Yes, it’s spenny — but if she’s set on staying at the chicest address in Edinburgh, this is where you’ll find it. The city sister to Gleneagles, it turns a former bank on St Andrews Square into a glossy, grown-up base for an Edinburgh hen. Think soaring ceilings, marble, stained glass, and that a staircase that makes everyone stand up straighter. You’re central enough to walk everywhere — but between The Spence downstairs and rooftop Lamplighters, you’ll be forgiven for wanting to stay in.
WHY IT WORKS: Bedrooms have beautiful beds and a bathroom she'll rave about until the wedding. It suits a hen group because everything runs smoothly: early arrivals can settle into the bar, late arrivals can slip in without drama, and staff handle the moving parts quietly.
INSIDER TIP: Skip dinner, but don't miss a round of martinis at Lamplighters — or one of their Champagne-leaning signatures — for main character golden hour energy.

Set aside your preconceptions about the Virgin brand. Yes, there’s red — but it’s not all red — and the irreverence is very much intentional (one of the best suites is literally called Sir Richard’s Flat). The point is: this 222-room stay in the landmark India Buildings, just off the Royal Mile, is a surprisingly stylish palace of fun for a hen weekend. Old Town grandeur meets modern, weekend-away energy. Step outside and you’ve got instant Edinburgh: cobbles, closes, and Victoria Street right there, without anyone even needing to open Uber.
WHY IT WORKS: Genuinely girl-group friendly rooms. The split-layout Chambers keep sleep and dressing nicely divided (which matters when eight people are operating hair tools at once), and you’ve got options depending on the group set-up. The public spaces feel buzzy without being chaotic, so you can do pre-drinks in-house without it turning into a club at 9pm. And location-wise, you’re perfectly placed for dinner and cocktails without drama.
INSIDER TIP: Use one Grand Chamber as the getting-ready HQ, then balance the budget with Chamber Twins for everyone else — and request the same corridor so you’re not playing hide and seek in a big hotel. Hire the Scarlet Lounge for one night to tick the 'Mr & Mrs and other games that fill the bride with dread' box, then let the Old Town do the rest.
From £365 for two nights.
We actually found The Hoxton through Patatino, their Sorrento-inspired trattoria that’s basically sunshine-in-restaurant-form. And if your bride is getting married in Italy… I’m afraid it’s a done-deal. The hotel itself is set across a row of Georgian townhouses near Haymarket, so it has that Edinburgh elegance on the outside, with Hoxton’s playful, design-led stamp inside.
WHY IT WORKS: The townhouse layout makes it feel more characterful than a standard big-box stay, and having Patatino right there gives you an instant first-night plan. Location-wise you’re well placed for dinner and cocktails, and you can actually walk a lot of the weekend. Did we mention they have bunk-bed rooms? Call me a child, but I don't think I need to hear anymore. Adult sleepover, yes please.
INSIDER TIP: Ask for rooms close together so getting-ready stays social (and nobody ends up doing mascara alone two floors away).

Tigerlily is the hen stay for groups who want the weekend to start immediately. It’s right on George Street in the New Town, and the whole place is designed around a bar-and-restaurant buzz: bold interiors, low lighting, fireplaces, booths you naturally end up gravitating towards, and that unmistakable sense that you could do pre-drinks, dinner, and one last without ever leaving the building.
WHY IT WORKS: One, location. You're in the thick of it. Two, it’s basically a ready-made hen itinerary. Arrivals can filter in at different times and still land somewhere that feels like the group. You’ve also got built-in daytime options for the softer side of the weekend — boozy brunch on weekends and afternoon tea daily — which is ideal when half the group is in glam mode and the other half is in recovery mode.
INSIDER TIP: Rooms lean very pink — Paris Hilton in her Simple Life era pink — so bear that in mind when booking. Depending on the bride it could be so right, or so very wrong.

House of Gods is what you book when the bride’s Pinterest board is velvet, candlelight and a little bit of chaos. It’s a small, swaggering Old Town boutique where more is more: wine-dark rooms, moody lighting built into hand-crafted four-posters, marble wet rooms, and more crushed velvet than you'll know what to do with. The vibe is decadent-but-playful— and Lilith’s Lounge is your deliciously moody anchor for a pre-dinner round (or the we’re not ready for bed nightcap).
WHY IT WORKS: The rooms are compact but well-designed for getting ready in shifts, and the lounge means you’re not all crammed into one room balancing drinks on laps. You’re perfectly placed for atmospheric Old Town nights and if you want to lean into it, the hotel’s whole VIP packages make it easy to make the bride feel like the main character.
INSIDER TIP: Book a mix of room types: one larger for the bride (and roll-top-tub content), then fill out the rest with cabins.

Eden Locke is the calm, design-first option for a hen weekend that wants to feel considered — not chaotic. Set behind a grand Georgian façade on George Street, it’s all soft, chalky tones, plants, and studio-style rooms that feel more “cool Edinburgh flat” than hotel chain. Each studio comes with a proper little kitchen set-up and a seating area that doubles as the make-up perch (bonus: the light is kind). And when you want to be social without going anywhere, Mayvn downstairs does coffee by day and slips into wine/cocktails later.
WHY IT WORKS: It gives everyone independence without sacrificing style — you can do slow mornings in robes, make coffee in-room, and get ready at your own pace without fighting over mirrors. Studios mean the group can spread out (and actually sleep), but you’re still right on George Street for brunch, shopping and cocktails within minutes. It’s also one of the better-value luxe-feeling stays in Edinburgh — you get the aesthetic and the location, without paying Gleneagles-level prices.
INSIDER TIP: Ask for a cluster of studios on the same floor/corridor so you can keep the pre-drinks energy close without turning one room into a rugby scrum.
